LAO4 - PAKSE / THE BOLOVENS PLATEAU / THE 4000 ISLANDS

(4 DAYS / 3 NIGHTS)

DAY 1 ……….. / PAKSE (TADLO AND THE BOLOVENS PLATEAU)

Arriving at PAKSE by flight from VIENTIANE or by land from UBON (THAILAND). Transfer to the CHAMPASSAK PALACE (your hotel), then proceed to TADLO, discovering the XESET waterfalls, visiting local villages and returning to PAKSE via the BOLOVENS plateau, crossing coffee plantations. Overnight PAKSE. (L,D)

DAY 2 CRUISING ON THE MEKONG RIVER TO KHONG ISLAND

Cruise down south to the quiet KHONG island, emerging in the middle of the MEKONG river.On the way, visiting WAT PHOU, the largest Khmer temple in LAOS, contemporary with ANGKOR, and the OUP MONG sanctuary. Overnight SALA DONE KHONG. (B,L,D)

DAY 3 REACHING THE 4000 ISLANDS

Following trails of the French explorer, FRANCIS GARNIER, you will discover the 4000 ISLANDS PROVINCE, the SOMPHAMIT and PHAPHENG waterfalls. At this point, the Cambodian border is just a few miles away. Overnight SALA DONE KHONG. (B,L,D)

DAY 4 BACK TO PAKSE / UBON (THAILAND)

Returning to PAKSE, then cross the Thai border at CHONG MECK, and transfer to UBON airport. (B,L) The boat used for this program, is a local 20 seat-boat, no cabin on board. Once at UBON airport, you can still fly to BANGKOK (daily) or even to CHIANG MAI, it could be as well, a good opportunity to visit the ISAN region (EAST THAILAND).
